Opportunities
Scouting means fun and adventure for adults too!
We are currently offering many exciting opportunities for adults to become involved in Scouting. There are over 170 young people and 40 adults who enjoy the fun, adventure and challenge that Scouting offers. We are looking to expand this provision by strengthening existing adult teams and then expand in the future. There are many ways adults can get involved in Scouting and many of these can be adapted to suit individual needs and levels of commitment. Not all roles are uniformed!
Adults in Scouting: The Myth Busting Truth
- The majority of our volunteers have a full time job and a family
- Leaders are not 'superhero's' who know everything. They are given training and learn new skills along the way
- No previous Scouting knowledge is needed
- There are over 100,000 adults volunteer for Scouting the UK
- All our leaders are covered by a comprehensive insurance policy whilst taking part in a Scouting activity
- Whilst all our leaders are passionate about what they do, many help out on a flexible basis due to other commitments
- Not all leaders wear uniform
- All leaders go through a enhanced criminal record check to ensure they are fit to work with young people.
Everyone has something to give
Everyone has something to offer Scouting. Such as running games at an evening meeting, cooking food at a family camp or organising fundraising would be a great help.
Do you have any hobbies or interests that you could share? For example are you a qualified First Aider who could run a first aid session or are you good at DIY and could help run a small DIY project for a couple of weeks?
All we ask is that you are enthusiastic, reliable and keen to help young people reach their potential.
If this is describes you then we want to hear from you!
What can you get from Volunteering?
Volunteering in Scouting is both fun and rewarding. You will have the chance to develop new skills, rediscover adventure, make new friends, spend more time with your child and give something back to your community.
